Veterans Resource Center
Located in the Jessup Student Union, the Veterans Lounge offers a private space to read, rest, or connect with others. It’s equipped with furniture and lockers, as well as a coffee maker, printer, and mini fridge for fueling up in between classes. The University is also working toward a Veteran Resource Center, which will serve as an on-campus hub for resources and information that engages and supports this community on a greater level.
Jessup, realizing that finding college grants available to students is challenging, due to the confusingly large number of federal options available. Grants are also frequently complicated terms/requirements for funding. Qualifying or not qualifying for one grant program does not prevent a veteran from applying and/or be eligible for another. Therefore, Jessup assisting students with many perplexing federal funding sources has retained Veterans Healthcare USA. Org (This Company of Military Leadership has various folks guiding students, including a Retired Major General.)
Finding college grants available to you is often thought-provoking due to the puzzlingly large number of options available and their frequently complicated terms/requirements for funding. Qualifying or not qualifying for one grant program does not prevent you from applying and/or qualifying for another. Competition to receive independent grants is high, which makes the process more challenging than many students might expect. But College grants for veterans might have less competition due to the specific nature of the qualification terms (verifiable military service) and military-focused funding sources.
Obtaining college grants for veterans at William Jessup still involves a complete application. However, the process and the ability to find the best programs, with ample funding available, is helped by the Veterans Resource Center.

The U.S. Army Women’s Foundation is the premier organization for today’s Army women veterans, and is a strong partner for their continued success, and a dynamic advocate for telling their stories.

The Higher Learning Commision
The second primary offer Jessup provides to all veterans that would like a Higher Learning opportunity, was to implement The American Military University. They are part of American Public University System (APUS), which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. HLC accredits degree-granting institutions nationwide and is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
The American Military University offers our Freedom Grant® to all U.S. active-duty servicemembers, both men women, National Guard members, and Reservists, providing the freedom to pursue undergraduate and master’s-level education for potentially ZERO out-of-pocket tuition. Chapter 30: Available to qualified service members and veterans who honorably served or are currently serving in the United States armed forces. May be eligible for up to 36 months of benefits.
Chapter 31: If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work, or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) can help. This program—also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E—helps you explore employment options and address education or training needs.
Chapter 33: The Post-9/11 GI Bill helps you pay for school or job training. If you’ve served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33). https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
Chapter 35: Find out if you’re eligible for VA education benefits for dependents and survivors (also called Chapter 35 benefits). If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a Veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill program.
Ch. 1606: Montgomery GI Bill®-Selected Reserve: Available to eligible members of the Selected Reserve. Up to 36 months of eligibility may be determined by the branch of service, such as: Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Army National Guard or Air National Guard.
The Yellow Ribbon Program can help you pay for higher out-of-state, private school, foreign school, or graduate school tuition and fees that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover
ACCREDITATION As an accredited institution, our University is eligible to participate in federal educational entitlement programs, such as military tuition assistance, government tuition reimbursement programs, the Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill®*, and many corporate education assistance programs. In addition, APUS has been granted approval by the Department of Education to participate in Title IV Federal Student Aid (FSA) Programs.
The University is engaged in a continuous process to certify that it is recognized as an accredited institution of higher learning by all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

William Jessup University is also a member of the Yellow Ribbon Program. If you are a military veteran at the 100-percent benefit level, the Yellow Ribbon program will cover most, if not all, of your tuition and fees. For Veteran students who have exhausted all of their military benefits, Jessup offers tuition discounts of $250 per credit hour for active-duty members and $335 per credit hour for Veterans.
Jessup also understands that, as Veterans, you come to us with a valuable and worthwhile experience. That’s why our Adult Degree Completion programs may allow you to apply your prior military training and occupational experience toward your degree. The university was founded as San Jose Bible College in 1939, in San Jose by William Lee Jessup (1905–1992), the college’s first president was Bryce Leroy Jessup (1935-2020), a Pepperdine University alumnus and a son of the original president, was president from 1984 to 2010, when he retired. John Jackson, a former pastor at local megachurch Bayside Church, was selected to be the sixth president in March 2011.
In 1989, the school was renamed San Jose Christian College and regionally accredited by WASC in 2002. In April 2003 they decided to move the institution to the Sacramento metropolitan city of Rocklin. The college officially moved from its San Jose campus in June 2004. At this time the college was renamed William Jessup University. A branch campus in San Jose primarily serves non-traditional and graduate students.
Since 2017, William Jessup University has formally partnered with Placer County to address land conservation issues in the county.[5] In 2022, the university and Placer County announced plans for the University to purchase a 487 acre piece of land known as the Clover Valley, with the goal of managing it as an ecological and recreational preserve. However, William Jessup has reserved more than 125 acres for their own expansion purposes.
